iii) Every subsequent correction in the roll, whether by way of deletion, addition ormodification shall be authenticated by full signature of the <strong>Electoral</strong> <strong>Registration</strong>Officer.16. In order to enable the <strong>Electoral</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> Officer to maintain the <strong>Electoral</strong> Rollcorrected up-to-date, the Chief Executive Officer of every local authority (by whateverdesignation such officer may be known) shall in<strong>for</strong>m the <strong>Electoral</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> Officerabout every change in the membership of that Local Authority immediately after itsoccurrence. The <strong>Electoral</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> Officer shall, on receipt of the in<strong>for</strong>mation, strikeoff from the <strong>Electoral</strong> Roll the names of persons who have ceased to be, and include thereinthe names of persons who have become, members of that Local Authority.17. The provisions of rule 26 except sub-rules (3) and (4) thereof and rule 27 shallapply in relation to Local Authorities’ Constituencies as they apply in relation to AssemblyConstituencies. However, an application <strong>for</strong> the inclusion of a name shall be made inForm17. Further, where an application <strong>for</strong> inclusion, deletion, or correction of entries isreceived by the <strong>Electoral</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> Officer, he shall refer such application to the ChiefExecutive Officer of the Local Authority concerned and on receipt of in<strong>for</strong>mation inrelation thereto from the Chief Executive Officer of the Local Authority concerned takefurther necessary action <strong>for</strong> inclusion or correction of entries.18. The provisions of Section 15, 16, 18, 22 and 23 shall apply in relation to LocalAuthorities’ Constituencies as they apply in relation to Assembly Constituencies.19. In the case of Local Authorities’ Constituencies, there is no qualifying date.<strong>Electoral</strong> Rolls of these Constituencies are not revised. But they are kept up to date bycorrection being made by the <strong>Electoral</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> <strong>Officers</strong> concerned on the basis of thechanges which are brought to their notice by the Executive <strong>Officers</strong> of the LocalAuthorities concerned. All ex-officio and nominated members, if any, of the LocalAuthorities are entitled to be included in the <strong>Electoral</strong> Roll along with elected members.20. <strong>Electoral</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> <strong>Officers</strong> should obtain, once in a quarter by the 15 th January,15 th April, and 15 th October, from the Executive <strong>Officers</strong> of the Local Authorities in theirjurisdiction, a certificate to the effect that all corrections have been duly intimated by them.The certificate should be on the following <strong>for</strong>m:—C E R T I F I C A T ECertified that all changes in the membership of Municipalities/DistrictBoards/Cantonment Boards/Notified Area Committee/Zilla Parishads/PanchayatSamitis/Mandal Panchayats during the quarter ending March/June/September/Decemberhave been intimated to the <strong>Electoral</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> Officer vide letter No. and date mentionedbelow:—1.2.3.Chief Executive Officer of the Local Body100
