FOREWORD<br />
As per clause 73(f) of <strong>Electricity</strong> Act 2003, <strong>Central</strong> <strong>Electricity</strong> <strong>Authority</strong> is to<br />
“promote and assist in the timely completion of schemes and projects”. The Thermal<br />
Project Monitoring (TPM) Division of CEA is entrusted with the responsibility of<br />
monitoring the progress of construction/erection activities of all the thermal power<br />
projects in the country till the units are commissioned. Visits are also made by CEA<br />
officers to the sites for assessing the on-spot progress of works and rendering the<br />
advice/assistance in solving the problems being faced by the project authorities, thereby<br />
helping the project authorities in avoiding/minimizing the time and cost overruns of the<br />
thermal power projects.<br />
In this context, Thermal Project Monitoring Division, <strong>Central</strong> <strong>Electricity</strong><br />
<strong>Authority</strong> has been bringing out monthly report entitled “Broad Status of Thermal<br />
Power Projects in the Country”. This report covers up-to-date information in respect of<br />
thermal power stations under execution in the country during 11th Plan. The report<br />
gives the details of the milestones achieved as on date, along with the name, capacity,<br />
location, implementing agency, commissioning schedule, type of fuel, construction<br />
agency, estimated cost besides highlighting critical issues requiring immediate attention<br />
of concerned authorities in the implementation of thermal power projects in the<br />
country.<br />
The Broad Status Report is being brought out regularly by this division on the<br />
basis of data forwarded by various project authorities, visits made by CEA Engineers to<br />
various power projects, holding discussions with the executing agencies and suppliers<br />
of equipments from time to time.<br />
We welcome feedback for further improvement in the Broad Status Report.<br />
