Configuring Interfaces<br />

There are two class C IP <strong>network</strong>s used by WidgetCo—one for each<br />

location. Using variable-length subnet mask (VLSM), you can break<br />

up <strong>the</strong> space <strong>to</strong> provide address space for all <strong>the</strong> LAN and Remote<br />

Access dial <strong>network</strong>s. Each <strong>network</strong> will be able <strong>to</strong> support up <strong>to</strong> 126<br />

hosts:<br />

Ridgefield:<br />

Net A 172.16.1.0 /25 or 255.255.255.128<br />

Net B 172.16.1.128 /25<br />

Concord:<br />

Net A 172.16.2.0 /24<br />

To configure <strong>the</strong> WAN link between Concord and Ridgefield, you have<br />

some choices. The first one is <strong>to</strong> subnet one of <strong>the</strong> class C address<br />

spaces even fur<strong>the</strong>r and use some of <strong>the</strong> address space. Because<br />

Ridgefield is already subnetted, <strong>the</strong> Concord address space<br />

172.16.2.0 /24 could be subnetted like this:
