Log messages with a high severity level are sent <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> master syslog<br />

server and <strong>to</strong> users'opera<strong>to</strong>r windows, whereas general router<br />

information and debug messages are sent <strong>to</strong> files. The files can be<br />

s<strong>to</strong>red or sent on for review. It is a good idea <strong>to</strong> use different syslog<br />

facilities for different routers, <strong>to</strong> make log management easier. It also<br />

helps <strong>to</strong> use syslog facilities that are not predefined for a specific use<br />

(kern, user, mail, and so on) make <strong>the</strong> logfiles that are easier <strong>to</strong> read.<br />

Here is some sample logfile output from syslog facility local6:<br />
