Displaying Frame Relay Configuration Information
IOS provides several user EXEC commands to monitor FR behavior and
configuration elements. Here are some of the more essential ones.
• — Displays information about the PVC usage
statistics
• —Displays information about the LMI statistics
• —Displays Layer 3 to DCLI address translation map
entries
• — Displays FR traffic statistics
Asynchronous Transfer Mode Configuration
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is implemented in two different forms on Cisco
routers. One form is a synchronous serial interface with an external ATM data
service unit (ADSU), configured to use ATM-DXI encapsulation. Another is a
dedicated ATM interface processor (available on 4xxx, 36xx, and 7xxx series
routers). ATM, like other cell/frame switching technologies, is provisioned using PVC
and SVC. SVCs are only supported on routers with ATM interface processors. Slight
differences exist between configuring ATM on synchronous serial and dedicated ATM
processors, and for this reason both will be covered separately.
ATM-over-Serial Configuration
ATM configuration on synchronous serial is performed in the following manner:
1. The protocol addresses should be assigned, and the interface should be
enabled.
