Configuring an SNMP Agent on a Windows NT System
With Windows NT 4.0 systems, SNMP is installed as a service. To add the SNMP
service, you need to login with an administrator account:
1. Select Start, Settings, then Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Network control panel and click the Services tab.
3. After you select the Services tab, click the Add button. You are presented
with the Select Network Service dialog box. Using the up and down arrows,
scroll down to SNMP Service and click OK. Now, NT loads the service. You are
asked for the Windows NT 4.0 CD to install the service, unless you have a
copy of the i386 directory already installed on your hard disk (this is, by the
way, a good idea).
After the service is installed, you are presented with the SNMP Agent properties
window (see Figure 11.8). You are asked to configure the MIB-2 system-group
configurable values: sysContact, sysLocation, and sysServices.
