au<strong>the</strong>ntication means, and <strong>the</strong> static username list is <strong>the</strong><br />

secondary. To set up au<strong>the</strong>ntication for PPP service, add <strong>the</strong><br />

configuration line:<br />

Router(config)#aaa au<strong>the</strong>ntication ppp ppp-au<strong>the</strong>n radius<br />

local<br />

If <strong>the</strong> router is accessible <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> public, you may want <strong>to</strong> change <strong>the</strong><br />

default Username: and Password: prompts. This can be done with <strong>the</strong><br />

global configuration EXEC command:<br />

Router(config)#aaa au<strong>the</strong>ntication password-prompt ><br />

Router(config)#aaa au<strong>the</strong>ntication username-prompt #<br />

Now <strong>the</strong> router's login looks like this:<br />

Remember, <strong>to</strong> remove any IOS configuration option, use <br />

preceding <strong>the</strong> command. To reset <strong>the</strong> username and password<br />

prompts back <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> default settings, <strong>the</strong> option is used:<br />

Router(config)# no aaa au<strong>the</strong>ntication password-prompt ><br />

Router(config)# no aaa au<strong>the</strong>ntication username-prompt #
