Classful Subnetting Examples<br />

The important thing <strong>to</strong> remember about subnetting using classful addressing is that<br />

all <strong>the</strong> subnet masks must be <strong>the</strong> same for each IP subnet used on <strong>the</strong> same IP<br />

<strong>network</strong>. In o<strong>the</strong>r words, if you have a Class B address of 149.178.0.0 255.255.0.0<br />

and a <strong>network</strong> of 10 separate E<strong>the</strong>rnet segments, and you want each segment <strong>to</strong><br />

have a Class C address space, you would subnet <strong>the</strong> Class B address in<strong>to</strong> 255 Class<br />

C <strong>network</strong>s (shown in Table 2.1) and use one of <strong>the</strong> subnetted address spaces on<br />

each of <strong>the</strong> E<strong>the</strong>rnet segments.<br />

E<strong>the</strong>rnet <strong>network</strong>s. Now, your subnet <strong>network</strong> table looks like Table 2.2.<br />
