By enabling <strong>the</strong> interfaces as passive, only <strong>the</strong> active interfaces announce all <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>network</strong>s that are part of <strong>the</strong> process. The RIP process announces <strong>the</strong> local <strong>network</strong><br />

<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> ISP using interface s1. The e1 interface is also active, so it can send/receive<br />

RIP updates with asbr-a2. None of <strong>the</strong> internal WAN <strong>network</strong>s are included in <strong>the</strong><br />

RIP process. The OSPF process suppresses announcements on interface s1 and<br />

includes asbr-a1's WAN link, which exchanges <strong>network</strong> announcements with <strong>the</strong><br />

Bos<strong>to</strong>n office.<br />
