problem if you are provisioning ISDN BRI circuits from different LEC or CLEC central
offices with different ISDN switch types. The problem can be avoided, however, if
your circuit provisioning is done in accordance with an ISDN "standard" such as
National ISDN (in the U.S.) or NET3 (in the U.K. and Europe) instead of specific
switch types. The ISDN switch type is set using the global configuration command
. Table 9.9 lists the switch type options
available.

After the switch type is specified, the ISDN BRI SPIDS and LDNs are configured
using the BRI interface configuration subcommand . Not all ISDN BRI provisioning uses two SPIDS; in these cases, only SPID1
is configured. Here is an ISDN example (setting the switch globally), using a
Northern Telecom DMS-100 switch and two SPIDS:

ISDN BRI DDR Configuration
Although it is not always the most cost effective networking solution, ISDN DDR is
the most flexible. In this scenario, the BRI interface has two data channels, both of
which operate at 56 or 64Kbps.
