Displaying Tunnel Information
To monitor and display encrypted and unencrypted tunnel configurations, the
following IOS commands are provided:
• — Tunnels are just like any other router
interface. This command will display the source and destination addresses,
tunnel protocol, and standard input and output statistics.
• — Displays the router's supported algorithms.
• —Displays the active encrypted
connections.
• —Shows a summary of the router's crypto
engine, crypto engine info, key serial number, name, type, and so on.
• —Displays the router's available crypto maps.
• —Displays the router's public DES key.
• —Displays a peer's public key
or all the public keys stored on the router.
Configuration
In Chapter 5, "WAN Internetworking Technologies," we examined the various
signaling and framing protocols associated with the following:
• Bell Labs/AT&T T-Carrier standard
• Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN)
• Packet-switched network technologies: Frame Relay, ATM, and SONET
Although some of these technologies have been implemented in certain examples in
this book, no direct attention has been paid to IOS interface configuration steps
needed to implement these transport protocols. This is the goal of this section.
Although it is not possible to address all possible configuration options, the intent
here is to provide you with some configuration examples to get you started.
Transport-1 (DS1)
The AT&T/Bell Labs Transport-1 standard is the easiest and most often used WAN
transport. Connectivity is provided through a V.35 synchronous serial (external
DSU/CSU) or integrated DSU/CSU serial interface. As with all serial interfaces,
