Classful Subnetting Examples The important thing to remember about subnetting using classful addressing is that all the subnet masks must be the same for each IP subnet used on the same IP network. In other words, if you have a Class B address of 149.178.0.0 255.255.0.0 and a network of 10 separate Ethernet segments, and you want each segment to have a Class C address space, you would subnet the Class B address into 255 Class C networks (shown in Table 2.1) and use one of the subnetted address spaces on each of the Ethernet segments.
