As you can see, every IP address subnet uses <strong>the</strong> same subnet mask. Because <strong>the</strong><br />

same subnet mask must be used <strong>to</strong> subnet <strong>the</strong> entire space, each host on <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>network</strong> has a defined number of <strong>network</strong>s that it can accommodate with that mask.<br />

Table 2.3 shows <strong>the</strong> breakdown of possible hosts and <strong>network</strong>s in a Class A <strong>network</strong><br />

space using classful subnetting. Remember, with classful subnetting, <strong>the</strong> entire<br />

space must be segmented using <strong>the</strong> same subnet mask.<br />
