Grasslands of the world
Despite its vast territory and the effects of topography and atmosphere
circumfluence, there are only three climatic zones : East Monsoon, Northwest
Arid and Semi-arid , and the Qinghai-Tibet Alpine Zone. China can be divided
into three natural zones, namely the monsoon zone in the east, which accounts
for 45 percent of all land; the arid inland zone in the northwest, with 30 percent
of all land; and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau inland zone in the southwest, with
25 percent of all land. The eastern monsoon zone is agricultural; the northwest
and southwest are pastoral .
