Canadian Tire, represented by Pierre Michaud, Diane Dupuis, Lysanne David, and Jean
Paquette, made a huge donation of hockey equipment.
Bob mesher
• The tournament will have to follow the Hockey Quebec
rules and regulations
• The arena and all of its equipment must be in full working
order
• Volunteers must be available to carry out the numerous
tasks required to properly organize a tournament
• Food, lodging and local transportation will have to be
available to accommodate up to 13 teams coming from all
over Nunavik.
The communities interested in hosting a tournament
should contact Sammy Koneak, the NYHDP coordinator.
Everyone is also invited to visit the new website (www.nyhdp.
ca) to find out more about the NYHDP and how to register
for its regional minor hockey tournaments.
Sorting out the equipment for distribution to the
communities.
Donations of hockey equipment
When the NYHDP officially started in the fall of
2006, the program needed participants and these
participants obviously needed equipment. Some
families were able to afford to buy what was needed
for their children, but others could not.
The NYHDP was very fortunate to receive hockey
equipment and jerseys from many generous donating
organizations. Over the years, the following organizations made donations
in this regard: Montreal Canadiens Foundation for children, the
National Hockey League Players Association’s Goals and Dreams program,
the Lakeshore Minor Hockey Association, the Val-Bélair/Valcartier Minor
Hockey Association, the Delson Minor Hockey Association, the Victoria
Racquet Club Kings Hockey, the Ottawa Golden Knights Hockey Club, the
South Porcupine Minor Hockey Association and Makivik Corporation.
Last fall, the Canadian Tire Foundation and its Bon Départ program
has decided to support this very important cause by providing
new hockey equipment for 200 children participating in the NYHDP
