Perfect Tenses<br />
Werden uses the auxiliary verb se<strong>in</strong> and the past participle geworden. Examples<br />
us<strong>in</strong>g the third person s<strong>in</strong>gular and plural are:<br />
Present perfect:<br />
Er ist alt geworden.<br />
He has become old. / He became old.<br />
Sie s<strong>in</strong>d alt geworden.<br />
They have become old. / They became old.<br />
Past perfect:<br />
Diese Masch<strong>in</strong>e war zu alt geworden.<br />
This mach<strong>in</strong>e had become too old.<br />
Diese Masch<strong>in</strong>en waren zu alt geworden.<br />
These mach<strong>in</strong>es had become too old.<br />
