1.36 There is no statutory provision as to the form of an ES; however, it must as a minimum contain the
information specified in Part II of Schedule 4 to the EIA Regulations 2 (see Appendix 5C):
� a non-technical summary;
� a description of the development comprising information on the site, design and size of the
development;
� an outline of the main alternatives studied by the applicant or appellant, if such a process has
been undertaken, and an indication of the main reasons for this choice taking into account
environmental effects;
� the data required to identify and assess the main effects which the development is likely to
have on the environment; and
� a description of the measures envisaged in order to avoid, reduce and, where possible,
remedy significant adverse effects (mitigation measures).
1.37 The structure and layout of this ES has been designed with the aim of presenting information in a
logical and concise form that will assist the reader. The ES is comprised of 3 volumes:
� Volume 1: Non-Technical Summary (NTS);
� Volume 2: ES Main Text; and
� Volume 3: Technical Appendices.
1.38 This document (Volume 2 the ES) is supported and supplemented by Volumes 1 (the NTS) and 3
(Appendices). A glossary of terms, acronyms and abbreviations is provided after the contents
pages. References are listed in the final chapter (Chapter 19) of the ES.
1.39 The remainder of this document is primarily divided into introductory background information
chapters and impact assessment chapters. The introductory background chapters begin with
Chapter 1 (this chapter). This is followed by:
� Chapter 2: Description of Development Site and Surroundings;
� Chapter 3: Description of Development Project;
� Chapter 4: Planning Context and Policies;
� Chapter 5: EIA Scope, Methodology & Consultation.
1.40 Chapters 6 to 15 provide the details of the technical environmental impact assessments that have
been undertaken to determine the potential effects on the various aspects of the environment as
follows:
� Chapter 6: Air Quality;
� Chapter 7: Geology, Hydrogeology and Land Quality;
� Chapter 8: Hydrology and Water Quality;
� Chapter 9: Flood Risk
� Chapter 10: Ecology;
� Chapter 11: Noise and Vibration
� Chapter 12: Transport;
� Chapter 13 Landscape and Visual;
� Chapter 14: Historic Environment; and
� Chapter 15: Socio-economics.
