and <strong>la</strong>wfully may, from time to time, and att all Times hereafter for ever, for their<br />

severall Defence and Safety, encounter, expulse, repel, and resist by Force of<br />

Arms, as well by Sea as by Land, and all Ways and Meanes whatsoever, all such<br />

Person and Persons, as without the speciall Licence of the said Councell and their<br />

Successors, or the greater Part of them, shall attempt to inhabitt within the said<br />

severall Precincts and Limitts of the said Collony and P<strong>la</strong>ntation. 75 And also all,<br />

and every such Person or Persons whatsoever, as shall enterprize or attempt att<br />

any time hereafter Destruction, Invasion, Detriment, or Annoyance to the said<br />

Collony and P<strong>la</strong>ntation; and that it shall be <strong>la</strong>wfull for the said Councill, and their<br />

Successors, and every of them, from Time to Time, and att all Times heereafter,<br />

and they shall have full Power and Authority, to take and surprize by all Ways and<br />

Means whatsoever, all and every such Person and Persons whatsoever, with their<br />

Ships, Goods, and other Furniture, trafficking in any Harbour, Creeke, or P<strong>la</strong>ce,<br />

within the Limitts and Precintes of the said Collony and P<strong>la</strong>ntations, and not being<br />

allowed by the said Councill to be adventurers or P<strong>la</strong>nters of the said Collony.<br />

And of our further Royall Favor, Wee have granted, and for Us, our Heires, and<br />

Successors, Wee do grant unto the said Councill and their Successors, that the<br />

said Territoryes, Lands, Rivers, and P<strong>la</strong>ces aforesaid, or any of them, shall not be<br />

visited, frequented, or tra<strong>de</strong>d unto, by any other of our Subjects, or the Subjects<br />

of Us, our Heires, or Successors, either from any the Ports and Havens belonging<br />

or appertayning, or which shall belong or appertayne unto Us, our Heires, or<br />

Successors, or to any forraigne State, Prince, 76 or Pottentate whatsoever: 77 And<br />

therefore, Wee do hereby for Us, our Heires, and Successors, charge, command,<br />

prohibit and forbid all the Subjects of Us, our Heires, and Successors, of what<br />

Degree and 78 Quality soever, they be, that none of them, directly, or indirectly,<br />

presume to vissitt, frequent, tra<strong>de</strong>, or adventure to traffick into, or from the said<br />

Territoryes, Lands, Rivers, and P<strong>la</strong>ces aforesaid, or any of them other than the<br />

said Councill and their Successors, ffactors, Deputys, and Assignes, unless it be<br />

with the License and Consent of the said Councill and Company first had and<br />

obtained in Writing, un<strong>de</strong>r the 79 comon Seal, upon Pain of our Indignation and<br />

Imprisonment of their Bodys during the Pleasure of Us, our Heires or Successors,<br />
