1. Good Design Awards: Good design is different from its rivals and innovative. It is functional, usable and honest. It responds to the
users’ needs. It is aesthetic. It does not harm human health, safety and the environment. Its benefit and cost is proportional. It is
detailed for a good quality production. It is sustainable. These are the criteria which a good design must fulfill. 91 products were
awarded with 90 Good Design Awards as a result of the evaluation on sectoral basis considering these criteria.
2. Superior Design Awards: If a good design is at the same time innovative and distinctive or superior in its functionality or visuality,
aesthetics, offers new posibilities to its user, contributes to the development of work environment, brand or development of
industry, or contributes positively to the society, sustainability, culture or environment, it is superior in comparison to other designs.
Superior design evaluation is made in accordance with these criteria on sectoral basis. 14 products were awarded with Superior
Design, among Good Design Award winners, which fulfill at least one superiority criteria.
As a result, 91 products with 90 Good Design Awards, 14 Superior Design Awards were given. Award winning designs received the
permission to use the award mark on the product and in its advertisements.
Conceptual Design Awards: Aiming to encourage innovative ideas that will guide the industry for the future, Design Turkey Conceptual
Design Awards which evaluate design projects which have not been scheduled for manufacture, were organized within the framework
of the specific theme determined for 2012: “Biomimicry: Design Informed by Nature”. Out of 19 entries, 9 projects which passed the
pre-evaluation phase were exhibited. On the basis of the conceptual design criteria, the jury formed of 7 world known experts awarded
2 projects with Conceptual Design Awards.
