1. Good <strong>Design</strong> Awards: Good design is different from its rivals and innovative. It is functional, usable and honest. It responds to the<br />

users’ needs. It is aesthetic. It does not harm human health, safety and the environment. Its benefit and cost is proportional. It is<br />

detailed for a good quality production. It is sustainable. These are the criteria which a good design must fulfill. 91 products were<br />

awarded with 90 Good <strong>Design</strong> Awards as a result of the evaluation on sectoral basis considering these criteria.<br />

2. Superior <strong>Design</strong> Awards: If a good design is at the same time innovative and distinctive or superior in its functionality or visuality,<br />

aesthetics, offers new posibilities to its user, contributes to the development of work environment, brand or development of<br />

industry, or contributes positively to the society, sustainability, culture or environment, it is superior in comparison to other designs.<br />

Superior design evaluation is made in accordance with these criteria on sectoral basis. 14 products were awarded with Superior<br />

<strong>Design</strong>, among Good <strong>Design</strong> Award winners, which fulfill at least one superiority criteria.<br />

As a result, 91 products with 90 Good <strong>Design</strong> Awards, 14 Superior <strong>Design</strong> Awards were given. Award winning designs received the<br />

permission to use the award mark on the product and in its advertisements.<br />

Conceptual <strong>Design</strong> Awards: Aiming to encourage innovative ideas that will guide the industry for the future, <strong>Design</strong> <strong>Turkey</strong> Conceptual<br />

<strong>Design</strong> Awards which evaluate design projects which have not been scheduled for manufacture, were organized within the framework<br />

of the specific theme determined for <strong>2012</strong>: “Biomimicry: <strong>Design</strong> Informed by Nature”. Out of 19 entries, 9 projects which passed the<br />

pre-evaluation phase were exhibited. On the basis of the conceptual design criteria, the jury formed of 7 world known experts awarded<br />

2 projects with Conceptual <strong>Design</strong> Awards.<br />
