APPLICATION RULES
Application to Product Design Awards can be done by the representative of manufacturer or brand owner company or by the designer.
Design Turkey Awards invite product designs with certain functions targeting end users, and which are manufactured byindustrial
methods. Candidate products need to be launched in the market at most three years ago (earliest 1 January 2010). Hand made
products or prototypes can not apply for the award. Food and chemistry products and textile design, fashion design and graphic
design are out of the context. Only if the graphic design is inseperable part of the product, it will be evaluated together with the
product.
Within this framework, below products can apply to Design Turkey product evaluation:
• Products designed by Turkish citizens
• Products designed by designers residing in Turkey or design companies registered to chamber of trade in Turkey
• Products manufactured by companies established according to Turkish Trade Law or Law of Debts.
• Products whose trade mark is registered by the companies established according to Turkish Trade Law or Law of Debts
Application to Conceptual Design Awards could be done by Turkish citizens or participants residing in Turkey, with projects which are
not scheduled for manufacture.
The jurors, jurors’ close relatives or projects prepared by or products designed by the companies where the jurors are working could
not apply for Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards.
APPLICATION CATEGORIES AND CLASSES
The application for and evaluation of product design awards will be done with reference to below listed product classification:
1. Packaging: All types of packaging of goods which are used for the purposes of transportation, protection and presentation
to the consumers and the graphics related with the packaging. If the packaging design covers only the labeling, it will not
be evaluıated. Graphic design on the product will only be evaluated if it is an inseperable part of the product. In such cases
the graphic designer and the product designer can apply to the award together.
2. Lighting: Indoor and outdoor lighting equipment, pocket lamps
3. Electronic Equipment: Electronic consumer goods, audio visual devices, computers and related equipment, cameras and
video recorders, communication devices
4. Electrical Household devices: electrical tools and devices for cooking and cooling food and washing drying, ironing and
cleaning purposes at home: White goods and electrical household equipment
5. Home and office devices and accessories: Devices and tools for cleaning, cooking utensils, tableware, glassware, office
accessories and stationary
6. Home Furniture: Home and garden furniture.
