FCIs Central and East European Regional Chapter<br />

FCI has always been devoted to representing the factoring industry with<br />

a strong global and regional focus. Through the merger with IFG, FCI<br />

was able to give an even bigger emphasis on the importance of regions<br />

by adding the Central and East European and the African Chapter to<br />

its existing Asian and Latin American Chapters. Through our network<br />

of regional Chapters, we hope to better represent our members needs on<br />

a more localized basis through organizing events and activities which have<br />

a particular focus on regional issues and supports our members in building<br />

their businesses.<br />

The role of the CEE Chapter is to actively stay in touch with local<br />

members or even outsiders from the region to understand the problems<br />

and needs of the factoring community and find ways for FCI to support<br />

them and on the other hand also promote FCI and its other Committees<br />

and Chapters.<br />

It is important to understand that the CEE region is not a unilateral<br />

region of countries with very similar economic, regulatory and even business<br />

environments. Just looking at the map it is obvious that countries like<br />

Albania, Russia, Romania and Turkey have little in common. Not only are<br />

there great differences in culture, history and languages, but the factoring<br />

industry has made very different routes in the past three decades that the<br />

industry has been present.<br />

But there are counties within CEE that have certain similarities, either<br />

historic, regulatory or economic that do help a bit in structuring our work.<br />

And for this reason we also organized the CEE Chapter Committee in the<br />

way to best represent the very diverse regions of Central Europe, South<br />

East Europe and the CIS by including representatives from each region to<br />

be present as CEE Chapter Committee Member. Poland is represented by
