AN ACT<br />
To provide against the introduction at contagious diseases, and far<br />
the establiament ot Boards of Health in the Cities of Pensacola.and<br />
St Augustine.<br />
1. Le it enacted by the Governor and Legislative Coun- Board of Health<br />

cola," and "the Board of Health of St. Augustine, " which<br />
shall have perpetual succession and enjoy all and every<br />
the rights, liberties unci privileges, powers, authorities<br />
and immunities, incident, or belonging to a corporation<br />
or body politic ; and by that name may take and<br />
hold real and personal estate. How constituted.<br />
2. Be it further enacted, That, the Boards of Health to<br />
be established by this act, shall each consist of the Ainein.eu<br />
of the cities of Pensacola and St. Augustine, and<br />
a Resident Physician, and four members to be appointed<br />
annually on the first day of January by the Governor.<br />
The Resident Physician, shall be ex officio, President of<br />
the Board of Health.<br />

3. Be it further enacted. That, the provisions contained<br />
in the following code of public health, shall be and are<br />
hereby established and enacted as law, in this Territory,<br />
viz.<br />

Of the duties and powers of the Board of Health.<br />
1. The Board of Health shall meet once in two<br />

Art. 2. The Board of Health at their first meeting in<br />
every year, shall appoint from the members of the Board<br />
a Vice President, who shall preside whenever the President<br />
shall be absent— and the President and the Vice<br />
President, and any other three members, shall form a<br />
quoium for the transaction of any business of the said<br />
Board, at a stated meeting, or a meeting regularly called,<br />
Quorum,<br />
except for the erection of buildings, or the appointment<br />
of officers, for which objects, a quorum to consist of the<br />
President or Vice President, and seven members shall<br />

Art. 3. The duties required from the Board of Health<br />
being those inculcated by the precepts of universal benevolence,<br />
as well as a regard for the particular welfare<br />
of the community, the Legislative Council annex no pecuniary<br />
compensation to the performance of those duties.
