AN ACT<br />
To raise a Revenue in the Territory of Florida.<br />
1. Be it enacted by the Governor and Legislative Court"<br />
cil of the Territory of Florida, That, all lands in this<br />
Territory, claimed and possessed by persons residing<br />
therein, shall be*given in for taxation to the assessor of<br />
the proper county, as hereafter directed, and all houses<br />
and lots within the limits of any town in the same, shall<br />
be given in assessed, and valued in the manner and form<br />
hereinafter mentioned, and there shall be levied and collected<br />
annually cm said lands twenty five cents on every<br />
one hundred acres thereof, and on said valuation of town<br />
property, twelve and a half cents on every one hundred<br />
dollars thereof, and so in proportion for a greater or less<br />
quantity or sum.<br />
2. Be itjurther enacted, That, on all lands in this Territory<br />
claimed or owned by a person or persons residing<br />
out of the same, there shall be levied and collected, twenty<br />
five cents annually upon every one hundred acres, and<br />
so in proportion for a greater or less quantity.<br />
3. Be it further enacted, That, there shall be levied<br />
and collected annually on every slave above the age of ten<br />
years the sum of fifty cents, on every billiard table the<br />
sum of fifty dollars, on the licence of every auctioneer fif-<br />
ty dollars, and one per cent on the amount of all sales at<br />
auction, which amount he shall annually give in on oath<br />
to the assessor, on every tavern licence and shop licence<br />
for retailing spirituos liquors within the cities, the sum<br />
of twenty dollars, and in the country five dollars, on every<br />
licence to retail or vend goods wares and merchandize in<br />
any store or stand in the Territory the sum of thirty dollars<br />
on the license of every pedlar of goods wares and<br />
merchandize not the produce or manufacture of the country<br />
the sum of fifty dollars, and on all persons practising<br />
law or medicine within the Territory ten dollars each, and<br />
