nail have arrived within the same, having an infectious<br />
or pestilential disorder, or shall have been attacked with<br />
the same alter his arrival, the said board shall direct said<br />
sick person to be carefully removed to the quarantine<br />
hospital, unless such sick person, or his friends, shall provide<br />
some other place out of the city, to whi< h he may be<br />
conveyed, and immediately after such removal, the said<br />
board shall cause the apartment m which such person laid<br />
to be thoroughly cleansed and fumigated, and the bed and<br />
bed clothes in which he laid, to be either washed or destroyed,<br />
as circumstances may seem to them to require.<br />
Art. 10. It shall be the duty of the board of health to<br />
publish every vveek during the months of May, June. July,<br />
August, September and October, in every year, a detailed<br />
account of the deaths, designating the name, age, places<br />
of nativity and abode of the oeceasea, the disease of which<br />
he died, the time of his residence in the city, and nature<br />
of his sickness, and if possible (in cases of fever winch<br />
may be supposed infectious) the place at which the infection<br />
is supposed to have been taken.<br />
Art. 11. The board shall provide a convenient covered<br />
litter with curtains, for the conveyance of the ssck, when<br />
it is found necessary to remove them; as also for the same<br />
purpose a convenient boat, with an awning, and shall have<br />
hands to row the said boat, and bear the said litter, which<br />
shall be under the immediate direction of the Resident<br />
Physician, and the bedding or linen on which the sick<br />
shall be removed shall, after every removal, be carefully<br />
changed and purified, or washed.<br />
Art. 12. Whenever it shall appear to the board that<br />
any operation for the cleansing, watering, rilling, or draining<br />
the streets, squares, or other places of the city, or of<br />
the ground adjoining the same, is necessary, they may<br />
pass resolutions stating the information, and their opinion<br />
as to the measures necessary to be taken on the subject,<br />
to ensure health, and it is made the duty of the Mayor<br />
and Aldermen, to carry the resolution into immediate ef-<br />
fect.<br />
CHAP. II.<br />
Of the Officers of the Board of Health and their duties.<br />
Section 1.<br />
Art. 1. The officers to be appointed are, first, a Resident<br />
Physician, second, a health officer, third a steward to<br />
the quarantine ground, fourth, two health wardens. The<br />
board of health shall also have power to employ :;;ich<br />
workmen, boatmer- and other persons as may be necessa-<br />
rv to carrv their duties into effect.<br />
