officer, he shall report the same to the attorney prosecut<br />

inc for- the Territory, whose duty it shall be to institute a<br />

suit for the penalty, and make the motion herein directed.<br />

53. Be itfurther enacted^ That t^.e Governor of this<br />

Territory be authorized to offer a reward not exceeding<br />

two hundred dollars, for the apprehension of absconding<br />

felons, in capital cases : and the Governor shall be authorized<br />

to draw upon the Territorial treasurer for the<br />

above sums, when necessary to be paid for their rewards.<br />

5.). Re it further enacted^ That, all officers who are required<br />

by law to take an oath or give bond for the faithful<br />

performance of the duties thereof, upon failure shall be<br />

fined at the discretion of the court— and if he presumes to<br />

exercise the duties thereof; without the prerequisites, he<br />

shall be subject to the same penalty—and it shall be the<br />

duty of the several courts of criminal jurisdiction, to give<br />

this act in charge to thcGrand Jury.<br />

AN ACT<br />

To establish the fees of certain officers.<br />

1. Be it enacted by the Governor and Legislative Council<br />

of the Territory of Florida, That, it shall and may be<br />

lawful for the several officers hereinafter mentioned, to<br />

demand, destrain for and receive the Respective fees hereunto<br />

respectively annexed,—first the surveyor of each<br />

county shall receive such fees-and compensation for their<br />

services as shall be fixed by the county courts of each<br />

county.<br />

The clerk. of the Superior and District^Court—shall receive<br />

the following fees. »<br />

For commission to take depositions—seventy five cents.<br />

For entering the appearance of either party, in person,<br />

or by attorney, twenty five cents.<br />

For every rule entered on the rule docket, twenty one<br />

cents.<br />

For a copy of every rule, twenty one cents.<br />

For entering every continuance on recoid, thirty t^iree<br />

cents.<br />

For administering an oath or affirmation in court,<br />

twenty one cents. •<br />

For, entering every judgment, fity cents.<br />

For a copy thereof, twenty five rents.<br />

For entering every decree, sixty-six cents.<br />
