19. be it further enacted, That, the owners shall be<br />

bound in cases of robbery or other damages caus< d by<br />

their slave or slaves- beside the corporeal punishment<br />

incurred by their said slave or slaves, to pay the said damage:<br />

unless they prefer to abandon the said slave or<br />

slaves to the person robbed, which the said owners shall<br />

be held to choose in five days tVjpin the day when tne sentence<br />

shall have been pronounced.<br />

Be it enacted by the 'Governor and Legislative Coun- delete<br />

cil of the Territory of Florida, That, so much of the act<br />

entitled<br />

^^ aid no<br />

'* an act providing for the election of a delegate gen<br />

to congress," as relates to the election of a delegate to<br />

congress for two years, shall be, and the same is hereby<br />

repealed, arid that the said Relegate shall at the ensuing<br />

election be elected to serve until the fourth of March next,<br />

and that the subsequent election of the delegate from this<br />

Territory, shall commence on the first Monday of June<br />

next, and on the same day of every second year thereafter,<br />

and that the delegate so elected shall serve for and<br />

during the period of two years.<br />
