AN ACT<br />
Concerning" soldiers and seamen in the service of the United<br />
. States.<br />
'!. Be it enacted by the Governor and Legislative Council<br />
of the Territory o f Florida, That, no person within<br />
this Territory shall sell any drink or intoxicating liquour<br />
to any soldier, seaman or marine, in the service of the linked<br />
States, without p«frmission in writing from his or<br />
their respective commanding officers, under penalty of<br />
not less than five, nor more than twenty dollars to be paid<br />
for the use of the Territory.<br />
2. Be it further enacted. Thaft, if any person or persons<br />
within this Territory, shall purchase, barter or exchange.<br />
for any arms, ammunition or clothing in the possession<br />
of tny soldier seaman or marine, in the service of the United<br />
States, such person or persons so offending shall forfeit<br />
and pay the sum of twenty dollars. And the several<br />
penalties imposed by this act, shall be and the same are<br />
hereby declared to be recoverable by action of debt, bill,<br />
plaint or information, before any judge or justice in this<br />
Territory having jurisdiction of the same, one half to the<br />
use of the informer and the other half, or where there is<br />
no informer, the whole penalty to the use of the Terri-<br />
tory.<br />
