LPPro v i rtue of the several articles of this code, shall be appropriated<br />
to the purposes thereof, and a regular account<br />
of receipts and expenditures shall be kept and submitted<br />
to the Legislative Council of this Territory, within ten<br />
days after their regular annual meeting.<br />
CHAP, V.<br />
General Provisions.<br />
Art. 1. All keepers of inns, taverns, boarding houses'<br />
or other places where there are lodgings for hire, shall<br />
once in every week furnish to the mayor of the city, at his<br />
office, a list of the persons lodging or boarding at their<br />
houses; and every person offending against this article,<br />
shall forfeit one hundred dollars, or if knowingly furnishing<br />
a false account or list, shall forfeit a sum of five hundred<br />
dollars.<br />
Art. 2. If any seafaring man or sojourner, shall at any<br />
such house, as is described in the foregoing article, fall<br />
sick at any time between the first day of May, and first<br />
day of November in any year, the master of such house<br />
shall, within twelve hours report the name of such sick<br />
person to the board of health, and describe the place at<br />
which he is sick, unless such sick person is attended by<br />
a physician duly admitted to practice; and for every neglect<br />
to make such report, every keeper of such house<br />
shall forfeit twenty dollars.<br />
Art. 3. Every person practising in the city who shall<br />
have a patient sick of the yellow or bilious, malignant or<br />
pestilential, or infectious fever, between the first day of<br />
May and the first day of November in every year, shall<br />
forthwith or at least in twenty four hours, make a report<br />
in writing to the board of health, at their office; and for<br />
neglecting so to do, he shall forfeit for every offence r<br />
three hundred dollars.<br />
Art. 4. The board of health shall have an office to be<br />
called " health office,*' and which shall have those words<br />
painted conspicuously over the outer door; which office<br />
shall be kept open at least six hours in every day, by the<br />
secretary or his deputy.<br />
Art. 5. The board of health shall cause such extracts<br />
to be made from this code, as they may deem necessary,<br />
for the information of the masters of the vessels arriving
