Promoting a
Project
TIP
Controlling Projects
In the Source Integrity Web interface, you can also delete a project label from
the Project view by selecting Project > Delete Label.
2 From the Label list, select a label to delete from the project, for
example, Bug Fixes.
3 To confirm the deletion, click OK.
The project label is deleted.
As with a project member, you can promote the project itself (or change its
state). Controlling a project’s state helps in managing the entire project
through the development cycle, especially if the promotion function is
restricted to key project personnel.
Promotion is the process of managing data as it moves through a
structured development cycle. Any project (whether it is software
development, document production, or any other type of data
management) goes through recognizable phases: from inception, through
development, testing, quality assurance, and completion.
Typically, you promote a project (or set its state) when you checkpoint it,
but you can do so at any time.
The available promotion states are defined by your administrator.
When you promote a project, only the project (.pj) file is affected.
Individual members of the project are not changed.
To promote a project in the graphical user interface and Web interface
1 With a Project History view open, select the revision you want to
promote.
