Appendix B: Glossary of Terms 480 tip revision The tip revision is the most recent revision on a branch in a history. trunk The trunk is the primary line of a file’s change history in a history. The first member of the trunk is always the original file checked into the archive. type (project member) Project members may be one of following types of files: archived (files under Source Integrity revision control), or subproject (another Source Integrity project). updating a member revision Within the graphical user interface, you can use the Update Member Revision option when you are checking in a member to ensure the most recent revision of each member is added to the list of members in the project. If the option is not enabled, the project list might not reflect the most current revision of each member’s history. user A user is anyone who needs to work with Source Integrity projects. variant sandbox While a regular sandbox is based on the current state of the project, a variant sandbox is based on a previously checkpointed revision of the project. When you create a variant sandbox, you choose a checkpoint (snapshot) of your project and use it as the starting point for a new branch of development. Source Integrity allows you to do this by defining a new development path. Web interface The Web interface is a program interface that appears in a Web browser, such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Working in a Web interface offers the familiar functionality of a Web browser with no client installation required. working file A working file is a file that contains a working copy of a checked out revision. Users edit and change the working file, not the revision itself. Changes to the working file are added to the history (as a new revision) when the working file is checked in. u s e r g u i d e
