Chapter 10: Branching and Merging Revisions
340
NOTE
If you have made changes to your working file (without a lock), and then
attempt to check out the member, the Confirm Working File Update dialog box
is displayed. If you want to retain your changes in the working file, click Yes
(Yes to All for multiple members). If you do not want to retain your changes in
the working file, click No (No to All for multiple members).
The member is checked out for editing on a new branch, indicated by a
lock icon, and a new working revision number. A member delta
symbol also appears indicating that the working file corresponds to
the new branch revision.
Making Locked Members Writable
If you want to edit a locked file without creating a branch, Source Integrity
provides an alternate method. You can make the working file in your
sandbox writable so that you can continue with development while
waiting for the lock to be released. When the lock is released, you can then
check out the member with a lock and check in your changes.
In the graphical user interface, you can make your working file writable
during the check out process, or from a Sandbox view.
In the Web interface, you can make your working file writable during the
check out process.
To make a member writable in the graphical user interface
1 With a Sandbox view open, select one or more locked members to
make writable.
2 Select Member > Working File > Make Writable.
The working file in your sandbox is made writable for editing. The
member revision number and working revision number are not
affected.
IMPORTANT
The changes you make to the working file in your sandbox are not part of the
project history until you check out the member locked, and then check the
member back in.
