Chapter 12: Advanced Change Package Operations Apply CP Advanced Command Options Ignore Cross-Branch Entries Causes Source Integrity to use the most recent revision when it encounters two revisions of the same member on different branches. Close Change Package Closes the change package when the operation is complete. Already in Project is Error Causes Source Integrity to terminate the operation if the member being applied is already in the project. If this setting is negated, then the information is displayed as a warning. Ignore Server in Change Package 404 Function Causes Source Integrity to perform the Apply CP operation even if the change package members reside on different servers. Note: You must set the Other Project is Error option in order for the Ignore Server in Change Package option to work. This additional setting is required because projects are defined by their server and path. Create Variants Causes Source Integrity to create new variant subprojects within the variant project as required to apply the change package members. If the main project contains required files that reside in a subproject, the Create Variants option creates variant subprojects for these files to be placed into. Backfill Determines how Source Integrity treats historic revisions required by the specified change packages. For the Apply CP command, the backfill option is set to Entire Change Packages by default. You can select from the following options: Entire Change Packages chooses all historic revisions required by the specified change packages and applies them by updating member revisions, adding files, or dropping files. The user is not prompted to confirm the backfill list. Back Revisions Only processes only the specified change package(s) and chooses only directly-associated revisions. It does not process any change packages that are associated with intermediate revisions. Error terminates the operation if other change packages are required but are not specified. Skip Revisions causes Source Integrity to merge around specified backfill revisions. Because the Apply CP command does not perform merging, this is treated as an error. Ask to Specify allows you to select the specific change packages you want to include. For the Apply CP operation, a list of additional change packages is displayed. The presented list of change packages cannot be manipulated. You must either accept the entire list or the operation fails. Change Package Add the operation to a change package. From the Change Package list, select a change package. To create a change package, click Create. For more information, see “Creating a Change Package” on page 217. Ignore Update Revision Entries Ignores update revision entries in a change package. There is no user prompt. 10 To apply the list of change packages to the project, click Finish. If additional change packages are required to apply the selected change package, the Confirm Project Backfill dialog box is displayed. u s e r g u i d e
Using the Apply CP Command 11 To accept the backfill list and have the listed change packages also applied to the project, click Yes. You must accept the backfill list as presented or the Apply CP operation cannot be completed. If you do not want to accept the entire list, you must use the Resync CP command instead. For more information on resynchronizing change packages, see “Using the Resync CP Command” on page 406. The Confirm Change Package Application dialog box is displayed indicating the operations to be performed. 12 To complete the operation(s) and apply the selected change package(s), click Yes. Source Integrity completes the operation or returns information on errors and warnings if the operation cannot be successfully completed. 405
