Connecting to Multiple Servers
Source Integrity validates your login information, then the
Source Integrity Web interface is displayed.
When you point to the Source Integrity icon ( ) a ToolTip is displayed
showing your user name, server, and port number for the session. This
information also is displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the browser
window, for example, mkern@dev_nt:7001.
Connecting to Multiple Servers
Source Integrity allows you to work with projects residing on different
Integrity Servers in a single client session.
Connect to multiple servers in the graphical user interface and command
line interface by following the procedure for logging in. Follow the
procedure twice, specifying a different server each time to establish
different connections. For more information on connecting to multiple
servers by logging in, see “Logging In to Source Integrity” on page 36.
The steps required to log in depend on the configuration set up by your
administrator.
In the graphical user interface, to determine which server a project resides
on, use the mouse pointer and pause over a sandbox name displayed in the
Select a Sandbox dialog box. A ToolTip displays the directory path for the
project mirrored by that sandbox. The server name and port number are
displayed in parentheses. For more information, see “Opening or Viewing
a Sandbox” on page 144.
Accessing any Source Integrity operation on a project or sandbox residing
on a server you are not connected to invokes the user login so that you can
switch between connections as you continue to work.
In the command line interface, you can use commands without explicitly
specifying a sandbox option, and Source Integrity determines the sandbox
to operate on based on the directory you are working in.
IMPORTANT
If you create two or more sandboxes in the same directory, Source Integrity
cannot clearly determine which sandbox to use in that directory. If this
happens, you are prompted to specify the name of the sandbox you want to
use. In general, you should not create multiple sandboxes in the same
directory.
