procumbent simple or branched, leaves roundish concave acutely<br />

bifid coarsely reticulated the segments obtuse, those of the perichsetium<br />

larger than the rest, fruit terminal, perianth (mostly<br />

fertile) pyriform plicate contracted and toothed at the mouth.<br />

Frequent in limestone and marly districts, in moist or shady places<br />

under precipitous banks, Cheshire; near Bangor; and Woodlands near<br />

Dublin, Mr. Wilxon. Fr. March, Apr.—<strong>The</strong> procumbent stems,<br />

large reticulation and less obtuse segments of the leaves, and above all<br />

the plicated upper portion of the calyx, have induced Mr. Wilson to<br />

distinguish this from the preceding.<br />

stem prostrate nearly simple, leaves patent subquadrate deeply<br />

trate somewhat branched, leaves patent subquadrate bluntly<br />

emarginate the sides incurved, fruit terminal perianth oblong,<br />
