Summer.—This is surely very nearly allied to N.ocellatum; indeed I<br />

can hardly distinguish, even fructified specimens, except by the more<br />

generally diffused spots of seeds in the present species.<br />

3. N. ulvoideum, (Ulva-Iihe Nitophylhnn); frond thickish but<br />

tender veinless roundish but very irregular in figure somewhat<br />

cuneate at the base variously cleft into oblong more or less<br />

broad segments rounded at the extremity, spots of granules<br />

small scattered over nearly the whole frond. Fucus ulvoides,<br />
