Dr. Greville.—" Filaments under the highest power of the microscope,<br />

appearing not larger than a human hair and of a very pale bluish colour.<br />

It has the colour and external characters of O. major, but cannot be<br />

confounded with it when magnified." Grev.<br />

" On a parcel of floating sods in an old turf-pit," Capt. Carmkhael.—<br />

" This specks grows in a thick, intensely green layer, over a tough<br />

slimy ochre-coloured substratum. It entirely enveloped the sods, some<br />

of which were a foot and a half in diameter. . Filaments very slender,<br />

more or less curved, and mostly hyaline at the point." Carm. It does<br />

not adhere to paper in drying.<br />

smooth glaucous-green membranaceous, filaments very slender<br />
