<strong>The</strong> inner peristome is very peculiar, it is broad, pale-coloured, and composed<br />

of moniliform joints, usually arranged in single rows, but not<br />

unfrequently having other joints attached to their sides. Here, too,<br />

they arise from an inner membrane to the capsule, as in Hypnum.<br />
