•and Woodward). Isle of Wight, Rev. G. R. Leathes. Devon {Mrs.<br />

Griffiths), and Cornwall (E. #o/.). 0. Summer.— 6—8 inches high.<br />

Readily distinguished by its very slender uniform ultimate ramuli or<br />

pinnules.— I possess most beautiful specimens from Mrs. Griffiths,<br />

gathered at Elberrey Cove, in fructification.<br />

33. Chylocladia. Grev. MSS. Chylocladia.<br />

Frond cylindrical, filiform (often constricted as if jointed),<br />

between gelatinous and cartilaginous, of a pinky-red colour.<br />

Fructification of two kinds :—1. spha?rical, ovate or conical cap-<br />

sules,\\\t\\ wedge-shaped or angular seeds :—2. imbedded, ter-<br />

nate granides. Grev. Alg. Brit, (under Gastridium) p. 114.<br />

t. 14.—Name K-Sho, juice, and/CA«6o;, a branch, from the succulent<br />

nature of the ramuli.—<strong>The</strong> name Gastridium having been previously<br />

given to a Genus of Grasses, it has been necessary to<br />

change it.<br />

Summer.— Three inches to almost a foot in length. .Mr. Harvey finds<br />

an appearance of joints in the ultimate ramuli, very evident when fresh.<br />

** Famuli elliptical, rarely somewhat elongated and constricted.<br />

2. C. ovdiis, (oval-leaved Chylocladia) ; frond subgelatinous<br />

nearly cylindrical filiform dichotomous naked below above bearing<br />

elliptical simple ramuli tapering at their base, capsules<br />
