Not unfrequent in Scotland. Fr. June.—When seen under a<br />

microscope, the margins and nerve of the leaf are of a deep blood colour<br />

and the calyptra is of a red or orange hue. No one has studied this<br />

groupe of Mosses more successfully than the Rev. Mr. Dalton of Croft,<br />

and to him I am indebted for much information respecting the various<br />

Marshy places and in wet woods. Fr. Apr.—<strong>The</strong> whole plant is of<br />

a lurid yellowish -green colour, the leaves very narrow, the lid hetni-<br />

sphaerical with a short point. <strong>The</strong> perforation of the calyptra and its<br />

adhesion to the seta below the capsule, as in Timmia cucullata, is a<br />

common occurrence in this species.<br />

Moss'); stems elongated, leaves obovate acuminulate reticu-<br />

lated their margins thickened denticulated in the upper half,<br />
