Species Description<br />

Pelage is dark brown with s<strong>of</strong>t, long hairs. <strong>The</strong> dorsal<br />

pelage is black but with some hair tips lighter brown<br />

giving an orange sheen to head and back. <strong>The</strong> ears<br />

are dark brown-black, hairy and rounded at the tips.<br />

Wing membranes are dark brown and hairless.<br />

Species Ecology<br />

<strong>The</strong> Bronze Sprite occurs in montane forests and<br />

also found in secondary teak forests.<br />

Conservation <strong>Status</strong><br />

Global: Least Concern<br />

<strong>National</strong>: Data Deficient<br />

Rationale for assessment: <strong>The</strong>re is insufficient<br />

information available to make an accurate assessment<br />

<strong>of</strong> the extinction risk <strong>of</strong> this species in Nepal.<br />

Due to its restricted distribution it may qualify for a<br />

more threatened category, however this distribution<br />

needs to be confirmed.<br />

Legal <strong>Status</strong><br />

<strong>National</strong> Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act 2029<br />

(1973).<br />

<strong>National</strong> Distribution<br />

This species occurs in Kaski (Sudame and Banthati),<br />

Sankhuwasabha, Terhathum (Lam Pokhari).<br />

Distribution outside Nepal<br />

Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia,<br />

Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam.<br />
