Species Description<br />

<strong>The</strong> pelage is thick and very s<strong>of</strong>t. Dorsal surface hair<br />

roots are mid grey, tips paler grey or brown. Ventral<br />

surfaces hairs are pale. Hairy feet.<br />

Species Ecology<br />

Hutton’s Tube-nosed Bat occurs in montane forests,<br />

banana plantations and tropical broadleaf forests<br />

and is an insectivorous species.<br />

Species Description<br />

Dorsal surface is ferruginous red in colour,<br />

intermixed with fawn. Hair roots are dark grey and<br />

Kathmandu valley and surrounding areas.<br />

Distribution outside Nepal<br />

China, India, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan,<br />

Thailand, Viet Nam.<br />

Main Threats<br />

• Deforestation.<br />

• Disturbance to roosting sites.<br />
