Troubleshooting Guide<br />

These are the most common problems that typically cause instrument failure.<br />

Please check these troubleshooting suggestions and follow the procedures outlined<br />

in this manual before contacting your local service representative or <strong>Frye</strong><br />

<strong>Electronics</strong>.<br />

General Problems:<br />

No power<br />

a. Check ON/OFF switch(s).<br />

b. Make sure the the power cable is plugged into a working outlet.<br />

c. Check the fuse in the power entry module.<br />

CRT/VGA/LCD display monitor is not working<br />

a. Check the ON/OFF switch.<br />

b. Make sure the power cable is plugged into working outlet.<br />

c. Check the monitor brightness and contrast controls.<br />

d. Check the cable between the monitor and instrument.<br />

e. Make sure nothing is resting against the keyboard and causing a stuck<br />

button.<br />

Test Chamber Problems:<br />

Test Chamber Microphone does not Level<br />

a. Check your mic calibration. (See Appendix B)<br />

b. Is the mic properly plugged into the instrument?<br />

c. Are all connections clean and tight?<br />

d. Is the mic head (element) screwed on tightly?<br />

e. Is the mic cable loose, broken, cut, worn or frayed?<br />

f. Make sure everything is out of the test chamber (except the mic) when<br />

trying to level.<br />

g. Open the test chamber and listen for the leveling signal.<br />

h. Check the test chamber cable connections.<br />

i. Is there an unusual amount of background noise in the test area? (air conditioning/heating<br />

fans, street noise, people talking, computer fans, etc.)
