The FONIX Keyboard App<br />

The FONIX <strong>8000</strong> Hearing Aid Test System can be controlled wirelessly from<br />

an Android tablet using the FONIX keyboard app. When the Android Tablet<br />

Package is purchased, this app is pre-installed on the tablet. However, you can<br />

also install the FONIX keyboard app on any Android tablet with Bluetooth ®<br />

technology. You will need the wireless dongle that you can purchase from the<br />

<strong>Frye</strong> factory. The FONIX Keyboard App can be purchased from the Android<br />

Marketplace.<br />

H.1 Configuring the FONIX Keyboard App<br />

1. Make sure the wireless dongle is installed on the FONIX <strong>8000</strong>.<br />

2. Turn on your Android tablet or phone.<br />

3. Select “Settings.”<br />

4. Select “Wireless and network.”<br />

5. Select “Bluetooth settings.”<br />

6. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the tablet.<br />

7. Select “Scan devices.”<br />

8. Look for a Bluetooth device with the name “Fonix-<strong>8000</strong>-” and the serial<br />

number of your <strong>8000</strong>. Select that device.<br />

9. Type “1234” into the “Enter PIN” to Pair with box. Press OK. The FONIX<br />

keyboard should now be configured correctly.<br />

H.2 Running the Android FONIX Keyboard App<br />

1. Select the “Fonix Remote Keyboard” app icon on the Android device.<br />

2. Press the Android Menu key (NOT the [MENU] key on the FONIX Android<br />

keyboard, but the standard Android menu key that is used to change settings<br />

on many different Android apps) and select “Connect a device”.<br />

3. Select your FONIX <strong>8000</strong> device. In the upper right corner of the keyboard<br />

application, you should get a message confirming the connection.<br />

4. Press an <strong>8000</strong> key on the tablet and verify the FONIX <strong>8000</strong> responds<br />

accordingly. You can now run your FONIX <strong>8000</strong> from the Android app.
