16 FONIX 8000 Hearing Aid Test System
1.6 Setup
This section describes the unpacking and setup of the 8000 test system. A description
of the front and back panels is also included.
1.6.1 Unpacking the FONIX 8000
Remove the FONIX 8000 test system from the shipping cartons. Store the shipping
cartons in a dry place so that they can be used again in the event that the unit must
be returned to the factory for repair or upgrade.
See Figure 1.6.1 for a picture of the 8000 test system and a labeling of its basic
components. The 8050 & 8060 sound chambers can be substituted for the 8120
Polar Plot sound chamber.
1.6.2 Locating and arranging the 8000 test system
MONITOR
MAIN
MODULE
Locate the 8000 test system in a moderately quiet area, such as a private office or
laboratory. In order for test results to reliably conform to specifications, the ambient
noise, mechanical vibrations, electrical or magnetic fields must not affect test
results by more than 0.5 dB (ANSI S3.22). Low-noise acoustic conditions, as found
in sound treated rooms and booths, are recommended but not necessary.
