5. Don’t touch the diaphragm of the microphone!<br />

The diaphragm is located inside the grill of the microphone and is extremely<br />

sensitive. If you need to take the grill off the microphone, please do so with<br />

extreme care, and be especially careful not to touch the diaphragm, as this<br />

can cause permanent damage!<br />

Overall, just be aware that your coupler microphone is a delicate device that<br />

needs to be treated with care and respect. If you do so, you will find it can provide<br />

years of reliable and accurate results.<br />

1.7.3 Locating the serial number and software version<br />

When contacting the factory, it is very useful to have your serial number and<br />

software version handy. This information will help us assist you regarding<br />

repair, upgrade, and technical questions.<br />

The serial number of your <strong>8000</strong> test system can be found on the back of the<br />

main module, just to the right of the power switch. See Figure 1.7.3A. It can<br />

also be found on the Opening screen of the <strong>8000</strong> test system.<br />

The software version of your <strong>8000</strong> test system can be found on the Opening<br />

screen. See Figure 1.7.3B.<br />

Press [HELP] to open a help window with more detailed service information.<br />

This data may be requested if you call in with a repair-related question. Press<br />

[HELP] again to close the help window.
