interstitial pattern infiltrate, <strong>and</strong> the<br />

pulmonary arteries are enlarged <strong>and</strong><br />

tortuous (arrows). There is mild<br />

right heart enlargement with bulging<br />

on the cranial aspect of the cardiac<br />

silhouette on the lateral radiograph<br />

(A). The radiographic findings are<br />

indicative of pulmonary infiltrate<br />

with eosinophilia secondary to<br />

heartworm disease. Diagnosis:<br />

Eosinophilic pneumonitis secondary<br />

to heartworm disease. Microfilaria<br />

were not detected in this dog’s blood;<br />

however, the heartworm antigen test<br />

was positive.<br />
