FIG. 2-70 A 10-year-old spayed Dachshund with<br />

mammary gl<strong>and</strong> masses. There is a large, soft<br />

tissue–dense mass in the cranial thorax. There are areas<br />

of calcification associated with this mass, especially<br />

ventrally <strong>and</strong> cranially. On the ventrodorsal (A) <strong>and</strong> lateral<br />

(B) radiographs the cranial mediastinum is<br />

widened, the trachea is displaced to the right <strong>and</strong> dorsally,<br />

<strong>and</strong> the cardiac silhouette is displaced caudally.<br />

There is no evidence of pleural fluid. The radiographic<br />

findings are indicative of a cranial mediastinal mass.<br />

Diagnosis: Thymoma. This mass was unrelated to the<br />

mammary gl<strong>and</strong> neoplasms.<br />
