38 Small Animal Radiolo g y and Ultrasono graphy
Fig. 2-10 A and B, An 11-year-old male Basset Hound with multiple
cutaneous mast cell tumors. The thorax was evaluated for intrathoracic
metastases. The thorax is normal. The cardiac silhouette size and
shape are normal for a dog of wide thoracic conformation. Note the
soft-tissue density that overlies the right and left sides of the lateral
thoracic margin (arrows). This density is created by the configuration
of the thoracic wall and does not represent pleural disease. The metallic
density in the right cranial thorax represents a vascular clip, which
was present in the soft tissues dorsal to the thoracic vertebral bodies.
Diagnosis: Normal thorax.
