heart, lung, liver, <strong>and</strong> stomach can be<br />

identified. Note that the lung is<br />

hyperechoic relative to the liver.<br />

triangular fat density usually is observed between the bladder neck <strong>and</strong> the cranial-most<br />

aspect of the prostate <strong>and</strong> this helps to identify these two structures. Extension of the<br />

prostate cranial to the pelvic brim may indicate enlargement (Fig. 3-251), but it also<br />

may be the normal migration of the gl<strong>and</strong> out into the caudal abdominal cavity in sexual<br />

senescence. The presence of the prostate gl<strong>and</strong> in the caudal abdomen is not an
