A <strong>and</strong> B, Thoracic radiographs were obtained at the time of admission. C <strong>and</strong> D, Follow-up<br />

radiographs were obtained 2 weeks later, following treatment of the dog for chronic renal failure. In<br />

A <strong>and</strong> B there is a diffuse increase in pulmonary interstitial densities. The vascular structures are<br />

poorly defined. In C <strong>and</strong> D the pulmonary interstitial densities have increased in severity. The densities<br />

are sharply defined <strong>and</strong> appear mineralized. Diagnosis: Pulmonary interstitial mineralization<br />

associated with chronic renal failure.<br />

NODULAR PULMONARY PATTERN<br />

The term nodular pulmonary pattern is used to describe solid spherical or oval soft-tissue<br />

densities that are outlined distinctly within the lung. Most nodules originate within the<br />

interstitial tissue, enlarge <strong>and</strong> compress the surrounding pulmonary parenchyma, <strong>and</strong> may<br />

grow to distort or compress the bronchi. They may represent solid masses or fluid-filled
