‣ Participate in SEPTA’s Customer Service programs<br />

‣ Ensure employee attendance at Customer Service training sessions<br />

‣ Improve access to information through new technologies<br />

‣ Proactively evaluate schedule <strong>and</strong> route changes to improve service reliability<br />

• Strategically allocate resources <strong>and</strong> streamline processes to ensure cost-effective<br />

service<br />

‣ Hedge against future financial liabilities<br />

‣ Decrease paper usage<br />

‣ Continue to evaluate alternative funding opportunities<br />

• Exp<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> strengthen the Authority’s stakeholder network<br />

‣ Develop partnerships with community groups, business associations,<br />

transportation agencies <strong>and</strong> other stakeholders to evaluate opportunities to serve<br />

new markets<br />

• Support the economic, financial, social <strong>and</strong> environmental sustainability of the<br />

Authority<br />

‣ Lead a collaborative planning effort to create a Sustainability Program for the<br />

Authority<br />

‣ Coordinate advocacy efforts internally towards mitigating the Pennsylvania Act 44<br />

of 2007 funding gap <strong>and</strong> Federal Surface Transportation Reauthorization<br />

‣ Support transit-oriented development <strong>and</strong> other neighborhood sustainability<br />

projects<br />

• Strengthen accountability, transparency <strong>and</strong> visibility<br />

‣ Develop <strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ardize reporting protocols for Five-Year Strategic Business<br />

Plan <strong>and</strong> Sustainability Plan<br />

‣ Publish a greater volume of ridership <strong>and</strong> revenue information on SEPTA intranet<br />

‣ Coordinate internally to ensure compliance with new reporting st<strong>and</strong>ards<br />

‣ Proactively develop communications strategies <strong>and</strong> public relations campaigns<br />

around strategic initiatives<br />

Act as a steward for the Authority’s short, mid <strong>and</strong> long-term planning efforts<br />

‣ Support efforts to achieve targets set forth in the Five-Year Strategic Business<br />

Plan<br />

‣ Incorporate other targeted planning efforts as an integrated component of the<br />

Strategic Business Plan<br />

‣ Develop capacity for long-range planning <strong>and</strong> alternatives analysis<br />

• Build a highly skilled, diversified, versatile workforce<br />

‣ Cross-train employees among departments to break down decision-making silos<br />

‣ Conduct comprehensive succession planning<br />
